Movement of Christian life

The movement of Christian life ( s. : Christian Life Movement, abbr .: CLM , . It : Movimiento de Vida Cristiana, abbr .: MVC , it. : Movimento di Vita Cristiana, abbr .: MVC ) is an association of the faithful in the Roman Catholic Church . The Christian movement was founded in Peru around 1971 and has about 25,000 members in 21 countries. In 1994 it was recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity .

history

The movement of Christian life has its origin in the “Sodalitium Christianae Vitae”, it was created on the initiative of Luis Ferdinando Figari in Lima . The Peruvian Bishops' Conference granted the association national recognition, whereupon the movement spread via Peru to other countries in South America . On March 23, 1994, it was recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity and was included in their official register as an international community of believers under papal law.

Self-image

The basis of their work is the offer to meet God . That is why it promotes the Christian life through the proclamation and witness of faith . The development of man should be in the light of the gospel and the teaching office of the church . On this basis, the movement develops fields of action for evangelism among young people, for solidarity with those in need, for the evangelization of culture, for the protection of the family and for the defense of life. These actions are characterized by devotion to Mary , intensive participation in the Eucharist and profound meditation .

Organization and dissemination

The movement is present in over 21 countries, spreading across Asia (1), Europe (5), North America (6) and South America (9). The MVC has around 25,000 members. Members commit themselves to personal and community apostolic missions . For this purpose they found communities, groups, institutions and other organizations, for example: Christ in the City, Apostolate "Ciber", Siloé, Pro vita. All activities and individual organizations are directed by the General Council for Coordination. The General Council consists of the General Coordinator, the Ecclesiastical Assistant and an Executive Secretary. The Generalate has its seat in Lima. Published publications include the annual Nueva Alborada, the bi-weekly newsletter Vida Cristiana and the online news bulletin Noticias eclesiales . From an organizational point of view, MVC belongs to the Solalitium Christianae Vitae family and is involved in their works, including the Institut Vida y Espiritualidad and the University of San Pablo de Arequipa.
