Gilles Petrucci (born December 4, 1968 in Martigues ) is a former French football player .

Career

Petrucci moved up at the beginning of the 1986/87 season as a 17-year-old in the professional squad of the second division club FC Martigues . In defense he only served as a supplementary player, but was still able to play some games. In the following seasons he had competitors such as Éric Di Meco and Patrick Blondeau , so it took until the 1990/91 season that Petrucci could become a regular player. He kept this role over the next few years, even after the team had been promoted to the first division in 1993. In the top division Martigues continued his positive streak and held twice the class before the team relegated in 1996. Petrucci played a total of 72 first division games during this time, but suffered a serious injury after relegation. This forced the 27-year-old at the time of relegation to take a long break, which is why he could not go beyond a single appearance in the second division in the new season. The game was also his last game in a professional league, as the player, who saw no more prospects in the team, left Martigues in 1997 after eleven years and found a new employer in third division club FC Istres . In Istres, the neighboring town of Martigues, he ran regularly for two years before he decided to end his career in 1999 at the age of 30. Nothing is known about his further life.
