Gillian Wearing

Gillian Wearing CBE RA (born December 10, 1963 in Birmingham ) is a British contemporary artist who works in the fields of conceptual art , photographic art and video art . She is one of the Young British Artists .

Life

Wearing studied art at the Chelsea School of Art in Chelsea, London from 1985 to 1987 and at Goldsmiths College from 1987 to 1990.

In 1997 she was awarded the Turner Prize . On December 11, 2007, she was elected a full member of the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) in London and in 2011 was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to the arts. In 2019 he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

She is in a relationship with the artist Michael Landy .
