Gillmeria is a species of butterflies from the family of the feather moths (Pterophoridae)widespreadin the Holarctic .
features
There is a scale brush at the front of the head. The palps are long and slender. The fore wings are usually quite pointed in shape and have poorly developed markings. The costal triangle is only indicated by a few small lines and points. On the wing outer edge of the third wing lobes of the hind wing there is a weakly developed so-called scale tooth. The European representatives of the genus Gillmeria reach a wingspan of 17 to 28 millimeters.
The valves are symmetrical. The basal area of the saccule is often wider than the distal area and clearly separated from it. The female genitals are similar to those of the genus Platyptilia .
distribution
The representatives of the genus Gillmeria are common in the Holarctic . A single specimen of Gillmeria pallidactyla was collected in Brazil .
Way of life
The previously known food plants are species from the sunflower genera Achillea (yarrow) and Tanacetum (wild flowers).
