The Gingee (also: Gingy ; Tamil : செஞ்சி ஆறு Ceñci āṟu [ ˈseɲʒi ɑːrɯ ]) is a 79 kilometer long river in southern India .

It arises west of the city of Gingee in the Viluppuram district of the state of Tamil Nadu through the union of two source rivers, one of which has its source in the Pakkamalai Mountains and one in the Malayanur Mountains. The Gingee flows in an easterly direction and takes on the tributaries Nariar, Tondiar and Pambaiyar. After a little more than half of the distance, the river enters the area of the district of Puducherry (Pondicherry) of the Union territory of the same name . About six kilometers from its mouth, the gingee divides into the Ariankuppam and Chunnambar (also: Kilinjalar) estuary arms. The two arms of the river flow into the Bay of Bengal south of the city of Puducherry .

The gingee is a periodic flow; This means that it usually only carries water during the rainy season between October and December.
