Gino Pariani (born February 21, 1928 in St. Louis , Missouri , † May 9, 2007 ibid) was an American national soccer player.
Career
Gino Pariani started playing soccer at the age of thirteen. Two years later he was already playing in an amateur league. He made five international appearances in his career and scored one goal. He took part with the US national team in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil, where the US beat England 1-0. He scored his only goal there in the game against Spain (17th minute) and the USA achieved a respectable success when they had led up to the 80th minute and only then lost 3-1. He also took part in the 1948 Olympic Games in London. With St. Louis Simpkins-Ford he won the US Open Cup in 1948 and 1950 . He ended his career in 1963. In 1976 he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame . He died of cancer on May 9, 2007.
