Giorgi Tsereteli (politician)
Giorgi (Gigi) Tsereteli ( Georgian გიორგი (გიგი) წერეთელი ; born February 23, 1964 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian politician ( United National Movement ). From 2000 to 2004 he was Vice President of the Georgian Parliament. From February 2004 to May 2004 he was Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. Since June 2008 he has been Vice-President of Parliament again.
Life
job
Giorgi Zereteli studied from 1980 to 1986. From 1987 to 1993 he worked as a neurologist. He then worked as CEO for the International Business Company in Moscow . In 2005 he received a Certificate in Economics and International Health Financing from the Boston University School of Public Health .
Party politician
In 1995, Tsereteli switched to politics. Tsereteli was initially a member of the then presidential party Georgian Citizens' Union . There he was one of the young reformers. In January 2002 he moved up to the party leadership with the later Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Schwania . A few months later he founded the opposition party United Democrats with Schwania . On the parliamentary elections in 2003, he joined an electoral alliance with Parliament Speaker Nino Burjanadze as Burjanadze-Democrats , which in February 2004 with the of Mikheil Saakashvili led National Movement - Democratic Front (EMDP) for the National Movement - Democrats (NMD) merged. He is a member of the presidium of the party that has since been renamed the United National Movement .
Local politician
From 1996 to 1998 Tsereteli was Vice-Mayor and from October 1998 chairman of the Georgian Citizens' Union in the Tbilisi City Council.
Parliamentarians
Tsereteli has been a member of the Georgian parliament since November 1999. Until February 2000 he was chairman of the parliamentary committee for regional policy, from February 2000 to January 2004 he was parliamentary vice-president. From 2004 to 2008 he was chairman of the parliamentary committee for health and social affairs. In June 2008 he was re-elected Vice-President of the Georgian Parliament.
Tsereteli is chairman of the parliamentary delegation to the United States Congress , member of the executive committee of the European Parliamentary Forum, chairman of the parliamentary association of the RHSR and a member of the parliamentary gender council.

In February 2004, Tsereteli became Georgia's Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister . On May 3, 2004, he resigned from his government offices.

Tsereteli is Honorary President of the NTN Tbilisi Chess Club , President of the Children's Baseball League, Honorary President of the Union of the Diabetic and Endocrinological Alliance, Honorary President of the Table Tennis Association, Honorary Vice President of the Association of Automobile Friends, Chairman of the National Alliance for Early Childhood Development and a member of the Association of Neurologists and Psychiatrists.
Private
Tsereteli is married and has two children. He speaks Georgian, Russian and English.
