Kauko Esko Järvinen (born December 15, 1907 in Lahti , † March 7, 1976 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish skier who was skilled in ski jumping , cross-country skiing and Nordic combined .
Career
Järvinen reached sixth place in the individual discipline (normal hill / 17 km) at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1926 . In ski jumping from the normal hill, he finished 19th with 75.885 points.
At the Olympic Winter Games in 1928, he was a soldier in the Finnish team in the military patrol demonstration competition and came in second with Eino Kuvaja , Kalle Tuppurainen and Veikko Ruotsalainen . However, since it was only a demonstration competition, no medals were awarded. In the Nordic Combined he was fifth and in the special jumping he finished 22nd.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane in 1929 , he won the bronze medal in the individual discipline (normal hill / 18 km). In the ski jumping individual, he finished 35th after jumps on 48 and 46 meters.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberhof in 1931 , Järvinen started again, but did not make it into the top 60 in the ranking.
Järvinen's brother Erkki was active as a track and field athlete and started as a triple jumper at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam .
