Giovanni Batista Orsi (also: Giovanni Battista Orsi) (* around 1600 in San Fedele Intelvi ; † before 1641 in Bohemia  ?) Was an Italian builder and architect of the Baroque era in Prague and Vienna .

Live and act

He came from the Italian San Fedele Intelvi . There he married on February 14, 1627. Soon afterwards he will have moved to Prague. He must have been living in Vienna by 1634 at the latest, because that year his son Giovanni Domenico Orsi de Orsini (also: Giovanni Domenico Orsi), who later worked as an architect in Bohemia, was born there . Giovanni Batista's wife was called Lucia and was born Retacco. He died in 1641 because his widow married the builder and compatriot Andrea Allio the Younger that year .

Act

His work has so far only been documented in one place: as an architect and builder, he was involved in the construction of the Loreto monastery, which began in 1626 near the Capuchin monastery in Prague's Hradschin district . Among other things, he built the Loreto Chapel , the Casa Santa , based on the Italian model , which was completed in 1627.
