Giovanni Bizio

Giovanni Bizio (* 1823 in Venice ; † 1891 ibid) was an Italian chemist .

In 1847 he received his doctorate in Padua and became an assistant for natural history there the following year. From 1858 to 1862 he studied in Vienna with Josef Redtenbacher , in Munich with Justus von Liebig and in Heidelberg with Robert Wilhelm Bunsen . He then became professor of chemistry and mineralogy at the Technical Institute and the Higher Commercial School, now the University of Ca 'Foscari , in Venice. He was also secretary of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti . In addition to studies on the region's mineral waters, he published monographs on coffee, sugar and petroleum, which arose from his lecture manuscripts.
