Giovanni Marinoni (* around 1455 in Desenzano sul Serio, † before 6 April 1512 ) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance and founder of a family of painters in Lombardy .

Life

Marinoni probably received his training in the workshop of the local master Maffiolo da Cazzano . Stylistically he was influenced by the Lombard school of Vincenzo Foppa and Bernardino Butinone . There is probably a contact with the Bergamasque miniaturist Jacopo da Balsano .

Giovanni Marinoni and his sons Antonio and Bernardo Marinoni founded one of the most active artist workshops in the Bergamo area in the first quarter of the 16th century. Another son, Pietro , is attested in 1512 and 1548. Ambrogio Marinoni , son of Antonio, is documented in 1548 and 1549 and died in 1551.
