Giovanni Matteo Asola
Giovanni Matteo Asola (* around 1532 or earlier in Verona ; † October 1, 1609 in Venice ) was an Italian conductor and composer .
Nothing is known about youth and education. From 1577 to 1591 he worked in Treviso , Vicenza and Verona as Kapellmeister, after which he went to Venice, where he stayed until his death.
He created a wide variety of sacred works, including masses , motets and madrigals, and was one of the most important representatives of Venetian church music of his time. He was also one of the first to use figured basses on a regular basis .
