Giovanni RF Ferrari
Giovanni RF Ferrari (born December 12, 1954 ) is a British classical philologist and historian of philosophy .
Life
He received his BA in 1977 from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in June 1983 in Cambridge (dissertation advisors : Gwilym Ellis Lane Owen and Geoffrey Lloyd . Dissertation examiners : Myles Burnyeat and Alexander Nehamas ). From 1981 to 1988 he was a lecturer at Yale University , Department of Philosophy. Since 1988, he has been a professor at the University of California, Berkeley , Department of Classics .
His research interests are ancient philosophy (especially Plato ), aesthetics, Greek culture, ancient poetics and rhetoric, philosophical aesthetics.
