Gisa Hausmann

Gisa Hausmann (born October 10, 1942 in Krefeld ; † October 10, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German painter and interior designer.

life and work

Hausmann attended the Werkkunstschule in Augsburg from 1956 to 1959 and then worked as a graphic artist in Augsburg until 1964. In 1964 she opened a gallery in Augsburg, where she worked as a gallery owner and freelance artist until 1969. After moving to Berlin in 1969, she not only worked as a freelance artist, but also as a graphic draftsman and interior designer. In 1976 she was named “Artist of the Month” after her solo exhibition at the Kommunale Galerie Berlin. In 1983 she exhibited a series of 40 etchings on the 50th anniversary of the book burning at the Berlin Academy of the Arts . In the last decade of her life, she lived in seclusion in the Bavarian Quarter in Berlin-Schöneberg. Despite a serious illness, she continued to work on several series. She painted with oil and watercolors, made collages and in 2010 developed her own computer-aided painting and printing technique, called the Hapix-Set. Since 1960 she has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Her works can be found in museums in Augsburg, Berlin, Marbach and Wuppertal.
