Gisbert Knopp

Gisbert Knopp (born July 16, 1941 in Düsseldorf ) is a German historian .

Life

Knopp studied history , art history and philosophy at the University of Bonn since 1962 . He completed his studies in 1968 with a state examination in philology and in 1969 with a Magister Artium. From 1969 to 1974 he was a research assistant, assistant and lecturer at the University of Bonn. In 1972 he was awarded a doctorate from the University of Bonn with a thesis on the Prussian administration of the Düsseldorf administrative district in the years 1899-1919. PhD. He was a professor of Christian art history and monument preservation at the University of Bonn, chief curator, most recently deputy state curator at the Rhenish Office for the Preservation of Monuments , co-editor of the annals of the Historical Association for the Lower Rhine , commissioner for monument preservation at the University of Bonn and is chairman of the Friends' Association of the Bonn City Museum. Founding and board member of the Academic Art Museum of the University of Bonn. Another work by Knopp is the bronze relief that has stood on Bonn's Münsterplatz since November 2013 and shows the city of Bonn at the end of the 18th century.

  • Honorary citizen of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.
