Gisela Widmer

Gisela Widmer (born November 12, 1958 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss writer, playwright and columnist who also worked as a journalist.

Life

Has become known Gisela Widmer as a columnist of the magazine of the Tages-Anzeiger and the United Kingdom correspondent, including for Swiss Radio DRS . Between 1998 and 2010 she commented on current affairs regularly in the satire program Zytlupe on Radio DRS.

In 2001 Gisela Widmer said goodbye to journalism and returned to Lucerne, where she has lived as a freelance writer and lecturer ever since. She writes plays for both professional and amateur stages. Gisela Widmer also appears herself with her satirical texts. She also lectures satire and creative writing at the Swiss journalism school MAZ in Lucerne .

In 2000 she was awarded the Central Switzerland Audience Prize for Literature , and in 2008 the Media Prize of SRG SSR idée suisse Zentralschweiz.
