Gisenhard is a hamlet in the canton of Zurich . It lies at the intersection of the Frauenfeld - Schaffhausen and Winterthur - Stein am Rhein lines . Politically, Gisenhard belongs to the municipality of Ossingen .
The Gisenhard settlement was first mentioned in a document in 831 as "Gisinhard" (Giso pasture forest). The original families are Graf (Lehnsbauer around 1380), Sigg and Kübler (property owners around 1550). The farm Gisenhard, or since the mid-16th century, the two courts "upper and under Gisenhard" formed its own independent from Ossinger tithe Zelgen system. The tithe corporation Gisenhard replaced all tithe burdens against the cantonal corn office and the pastor of Ossingen until 1808, while the municipality of Ossingen, which in 1804 had signed the Andelfinger Memorial as a petition to the government for easier redemption of the basic burdens, made payments for the repayment had to pay such burdens until 1860.
The affiliation to the prince abbey of St. Gallen (from 831) and the monastery of St. Peter in Constance (from 1359) are historically noted .
