Giulio Ricordi
Giulio Ricordi (born December 19, 1840 in Milan ; † June 6, 1912 ibid) was an Italian music publisher who was manager of Casa Ricordi in Milan from 1858 and from 1888 director .
Life
Tito Ricordi's son was versatile: as a writer, painter, composer (opera La secchia rapita under the name Jules Burgmein ) and businessman. Under his leadership, the Ricordi publishing house reached the height of its development. He expanded the publishing house to Naples, Florence (1865), Rome (1871), London (1878), and Palermo and Paris (1888), and was the publisher of Vincenzo Bellini (posthumously), Giuseppe Verdi's late operas, and Giacomo Puccini's operas . He also secured the Italian rights to Richard Wagner's works for the publisher . From 1866 Ricordi directed the La gazzetta musicale di Milano . In 1879 he founded the Società Orchestrale del Teatro alla Scala . After his death, his son Tito Ricordi took over the management of the publishing house.
