Giuseppe Gaudino

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Giuseppe Mario Gaudino (* 1957 in Pozzuoli ) is an Italian documentary filmmaker and set designer .

Life

Gaudino left the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples with a degree as a set designer; he was also a student of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and the DAMS in Bologna . He made his debut in 1983 as a director of the medium-length documentary Antrodoco , which was followed by several films of this type, in addition to assignments as a set designer. In 1997 he made his feature film debut Giro di lune tra tera e mare , which he also wrote (like all his films) and edited. The film about Gaudino's hometown, which worked with unusual means and forms (parts of the dialogue were in Ladin and Latin ), was cumbersome but photographed in a remarkable way. He worked with fellow director Isabella Sandri on several occasions, including in the documentary about Palestinian children in the Sabra and Schatila camps , La casa dei limoni , from 1999. His documentary films O 'Ciuna and Materiali a confronto , made in 2002 and the following year, were made in Venice shown. A joint work with Sandri was also created in 2010, this time about the missionary Alberto Maria De Agostini , Per questi stretti morire .
