Giuseppe Spagnulo (born December 28, 1936 in Grottaglie , Province of Taranto ( Apulia ), † June 15, 2016 ) was an Italian sculptor .

life and work

Spagnulo trained from 1952 to 1958 at the "Instituto d'arte per la ceramica" in Faenza . In 1959 he was an assistant in the sculpture studios of Lucio Fontana and Arnaldo Pomodoro and made the acquaintance of Piero Manzoni . In 1968 he took an active part in the university protest movement and worked on the first iron sculptures. At the invitation of the "Newport Harbor Art Museum" in 1977 he made a trip through California .
