Giuseppe Terrabugio

Giuseppe Terrabugio (born May 13, 1842 in Fiera di Primiero , Province of Trento ; † January 9, 1933 ibid) was an Italian organist , church musician and composer .

life and work

Terrabugio began his studies in Padua , continued them in Munich with Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger and completed them in Milan in 1883 with Giovanni Tebaldini , where he also founded the magazine Musica sacra . This was under his editorial direction until 1924. With Tebaldini he worked in 1903 on the implementation of the reform of Italian church music according to the Apostolic Letter motu proprio Tra le sollecitudini .

He was a teacher at the Scuola Superiore di Musica Sacra in Milan and was responsible for the organization of the archives of the Cathedral of Pavia . In 1927 he returned to his native Fiera di Primiero . He was an active advocate of sacred music in Italy and translated various technical articles on the organ and Gregorian chant from German ; in addition, he wrote the organ school L'organista pratico (3 volumes).
