Giwi Tschocheli ( Georgian გივი ჩოხელი , Russian Гиви Дмитриевич Чохели ; born June 27, 1937 in Telavi , † February 25, 1994 in Tbilisi ) was a Soviet football player and football coach .

Club career

Tschocheli played for Dinamo Tbilisi from 1955 to 1969 . In 1964 he even won the championship title in the Soviet Union with his Georgian homeland club. He ended his active club career in 1969.

International career

Tschocheli took part in the European Football Championship in France in 1960 and won the title with the Soviet selection. In 1962 he took part in the World Cup in Chile . In the quarterfinals, the Soviets were eliminated by hosts Chile . In total, he played 19 times for the Soviet Union.

After the active career

After retiring, he became a coach at Dinamo Tbilisi in the youth departments and later as head coach. After his coaching career and until his death, Tschocheli was an official and scout for the Georgians . Tschocheli died on February 25, 1994 in Tbilisi .
