Glænø is a Danish island on the northern edge of Smålandsfarvandet ( German  Smålandsfahrwasser ) on the Karrebæksminde Bugt . The island is separated from Zealand by Holsteinborg Nor, with Noor Basnæs Nor to the west . The island is 6.8 kilometers long, up to 2.1 kilometers wide and an area of 559 hectares . 42 inhabitants live here (January 1, 2020). A road embankment connects Glænø with Zealand.

The island belongs to the parish ( Danish : Sogn ) Ørslev Sogn , which until 1970 belonged to Harde Vester Flakkebjerg Herred in what was then Sorø Amt , then to Skælskør Kommune in what was then Vestsjællands Amt , which became part of Slagelse Kommune with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 in the Sjælland region.

The legend goes that Glænø's sister island "Vænø" once sank into the sea and has been waiting for the others to sink ever since. When the sea is calm, you should be able to see Vænø's willow below and hear the church bell ringing.

The ceramicist and painter Knud Kyhn (1880–1969) often worked on Glænø.
