The Gladbacher Roll- und Schlittschuh Club eV (short: GRSC) is a sports club in Mönchengladbach that was founded in 1936. The club colors are black, green and white. The club has focused on roller sports since its inception, and there never was an ice skating department.
All departments train in the Dünnerfeld Hall in Mönchengladbach-Neuwerk, which is recognized as a performance base for roller hockey. In addition, the outdoor track at the Neuwerker multi-purpose hall is used in the summer months.
Roller hockey
The first men's team of the GRSC played in the 2nd roller hockey Bundesliga North-West until 2010 . In the Best of 1. Bundesliga table of the German Roller Sport and Inline Association ( DRIV ), the GRSC is in 7th place, the GRSC has not yet won a German championship. The greatest successes were the cup
wins in 1987 and 1988. The youth teams won a total of three German championships in the 1970s (A-youth: 1976 / B-youth: 1974, 1975). The "Alte Herren" (over 35 years old) won the German championship for the first time in 2008.
Figure skating
The figure skating department starts in competitions at the NRW level as well as in test runs of the state association. Currently there are active people in the mini, beginner, free runner, figure runners, artistic and junior classes. In the run-up to Christmas, a show is staged every year: in the even years a fairy tale show, in the odd years a show with a theme.
Inline hockey
Since 2006 the GRSC has had an inline hockey team that does not play in the regular league.
Freestyle skating
Since September 2007 the 4WheelFreestyle "Freestyle Skating Team" has set up its own freestyle skating department within the GRSC. The disciplines in this department include freestyle slalom , speed slalom , bladercross , high jump & style jump on inline skates and roller skates .
Ice skate
When the association was founded, the city of Mönchengladbach promised support for the establishment of an ice skating department, which mainly concerned the construction of a facility. In the statutes, the promotion of ice skating is stated with the note "as soon as the opportunity arises".
