Gladys Afamado

Gladys Afamado de Sans (born May 24, 1925 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan artist and writer.

Afamado is a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes . There she was a student of Domingo Bazzurros and Adolfo Pastors . She learned pottery from 1954 to 1955 as part of a commercial workshop and in 1960 attended a related course with Duncan Quintela . She received screen printing lessons from Rimer Cardillo in 1975 . After studying semiotics with Jorge Medina Vidal from 1981 to 1982 , she went to Spain in 1984 with a scholarship obtained from a competition and attended a handmade paper course in Capellades . From 1965 to 1985 she worked as a graphic designer for the Montevidean Club de Grabado . The multiple award-winning artist has held numerous exhibitions of her own in Uruguay, Peru, Colombia, Belgium and elsewhere since 1978. Her works could also be seen at factory shows and joint exhibitions around the world. From 1987 to 1997 she also performed the solo concert Canción e imagen together with her sister, the singer and writer Ethel Afamado . She also published several books of poetry. She is also active in the field of digital art and in this context was part of the book or CD-ROM from Akenaton published in France in 1999 under the title Un notre web .
