Glassworks (Schieder-Schwalenberg)

Glashütte is a Kneipp health resort belonging to the Schieder district of the Lippe town of Schieder-Schwalenberg in the northeast of North Rhine-Westphalia .

location

The place is between Schieder and Lügde (city of Lügde ) in the immediate vicinity of the Schiedersee (Emmerstausee) and at the foot of the Herlingsburg .

history

The village of Glashütte owes its foundation and name to the glassblowers , who in 1715 received permission from the sovereign Count Friedrich Adolf to build a glassworks and a forest settlement. The glassworks were operated by master glaziers Fritz Henze and Elias Becker, who both originally came from Northern Hesse and had previously owned glassworks elsewhere in Lippe. The glass ovens, houses and sheds were built together with immigrants from Northern Hesse.
