Glasses Malone (* 10. December 1978 as Charles Phillip Ivory Penniman ) is an American rapper from Los Angeles , California .
Career
Glasses Malone grew up in the Watts and Compton neighborhoods of Los Angeles. His entire family was deeply involved in the illegal drug trade - for example, his mother was sentenced to 25 years in prison - and he was a member of the Crips youth gang . However, Malone then decided to leave the criminal machinations behind and devote himself to music.
Initially he was related to The Games Label The Black Wall Street Records . But when he then two albums, The Crack Mixtape (2003) and White Lightning (2005), published that sold together in five-digit number and included some local sellers in the area of Los Angeles, he solved so that a bidding war various major labels from run by Def Jam , Atlantic Records , Aftermath Entertainment, and Sony BMG Music Entertainment .
