Gleb Ivanovich Uspensky
Gleb Ivanovich Uspenski ( Russian Глеб Иванович Успенский ; born October 25, 1843 in Tula , † April 6, 1902 in Strelna near Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian writer .
The civil servant's son Gleb Uspenski attended two high schools - from 1853 in Tula and from 1856 to 1861 in Chernigov . He then studied at the law faculties of the universities of Saint Petersburg and then in Moscow . Uspenski had to leave the latter university due to financial difficulties in 1862. From 1862 he worked as a writer. Uspenski became known for his socially critical portrayals of life in the country. His most important works include The Road of the Lost and The Power of the Earth (Власть земли, 1882). Politically, he was close to the folk .
