Josi from Koskull
Josi von Koskull , actually Josepha Benita Baroness von Koskull (born June 22, 1898 in Tergeln ( Tārgale ), Windau district , Courland ; † 1996 in Berlin ), was a German-Baltic translator of Russian literature who also worked as a writer - partly under the Pseudonym Peter Weibel - emerged and worked as a librarian in Berlin since 1919.
Life
Josepha, called Josi, the daughter of Alexander Freiherr von Koskull (1873-1928) and his wife Hermine Catharina Harriet Baronin von Koskull, born Baroness von Nolcken (* 1876), was educated by private tutors until 1911 and then attended the Fräuleinstift Finn . From 1921 to 1924 she lived in Weimar and was otherwise active in Berlin from 1919 on in the three areas mentioned above.
From September 3 to 5, 1944, Josi von Koskull was in the Gestapo prison in connection with the assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 .
From 1945 she worked as a freelance writer.
