Glenfyne , also known as Glendarroch or Glengilp , was a whiskey distillery in Ardrishaig , Argyll and Bute , Scotland . The brandy produced was therefore assigned to the Highlands whiskey region .

history

Henry Hoey founded the distillery as Glenfyne in 1831 . It lay above the Crinan Canal and below Achnagbreach Hill . Its history is marked by numerous changes of ownership. William Smyth changed the name to Glendarroch in the 1870s ; However, the original name was reintroduced in the late 1880s. In 1937 the company was finally closed.

When Alfred Barnard visited the distillery as part of his major whiskey tour in 1885, it had an annual production capacity of 80,000  gallons . It was a rough blister ( wash still ) with a capacity of 4,726 gallons are available. There were also two spirit stills with capacities of 1000 and 500 gallons respectively.
