Glentauchers is a whiskey distillery near Mulben , Banffshire , Scotland , UK . It is not far from the Auchroisk distillery.
history
Glentauchers was founded in 1897 by James Buchanan, WP Lowrie near the divers forest in the Speyside region. She initially had two stills . In 1903 it was renamed Glentauchers-Glenlivet Distillery and taken over by Buchanan in 1906. Since Buchanan mainly sold blends (including Black & White ), most of the brandies produced were used for blending. In 1925 the distillery was incorporated into the DCL group and in 1930 it was taken over by Scottish Malt Distillers . In the mid-1960s, the distillery underwent a modernization in which a new distillery was built and four more stills were added. In 1985 the distillery was shut down and reopened in 1989 by Allied Distillers . Allied Distillers was taken over by Chivas Brothers , which were eventually incorporated into the Pernod Ricard group.
production
The water comes from the Rosarie Burn, which later flows into the Spey . The distillery has a production capacity of 34,000 hl of alcohol per year and uses three wash stills and three spirit stills . In 2000, 19,000 hectoliters were produced. The production cannot be visited.
Bottlings
Glentauchers brandies are still largely used for the production of blends. In 2000, the first official single malt bottling with 15 years of maturation was launched. However, there are different bottlings from independent bottlers.
