Global Atmosphere Watch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW; Global Monitoring of the Atmosphere), data on climate-relevant substances in the atmosphere is recorded in a global network of observation stations .

In connection with the greenhouse effect and the carbon cycle , the measurement curve of the GAW station Mauna Loa in Hawaii is often quoted, which has continuously recorded the carbon dioxide concentration since 1957.

In Germany, the CO 2 concentration is recorded by the GAW stations Schauinsland (since 1972) and Zugspitze (since 1995). The station in the central Mediterranean is located at the weather station at the Giordan Lighthouse on the island of Gozo .
