The Spannagl bell foundry was a historic family of bell foundries in Regensburg .

history

Joseph Anton Spannagl was born on September 19, 1804 as the son of a bell founder in Straubing . He went to Regensburg and was granted the right to found a bell in 1833, where he worked as a piece and bell caster at Jesuitenplatz.

After the death of Joseph Anton Spannagl on June 12, 1866, Lothar Spannagl, born on April 6, 1840, took over the business and made several hundred bells. Lothar Spannagl died on April 14, 1901. With him, the tradition of the bell foundry family in Regensburg ended.

meaning

The Spannagl company made 1663 bells during its active time. Many were lost due to the material deliveries of the two world wars.

Trivia

Since cyclists needed a license, Max Spannagl was the first verifiable cyclist in Regensburg in 1869, who then did his laps on the pedal bike .
