Glossop Castle

Glossop Castle (also Mouselow Castle ) is an Outbound castle in Glossop at the Hilltop Road , about 23 km east of Manchester in the English county of Derbyshire . The property can be seen from the main road; it stands on a prominent range of hills. About 19 km southeast of it is Peveril Castle .

history

The castle was a Norman moth with earthworks that William Peverel († 1114) had built. The Norman castle was an ancient Celtic probably hill fort, a hill fort built.

The earthworks were damaged by quarrying and the location of the outer bailey is not known.
