history

The company, which is still organized as a cooperative , traces its origins back to the Traunsee dairy cooperative in Ebensee , which was founded by 40 farmers on June 28, 1931 . After the location was expanded, it was renamed Gmunden Dairy Cooperative, reg.Gen.mbH , Ebensee plant in 1938 . Between 1950 and 1952 a new facility was built in Gmunden. 1953 merged the company with the milk delivery cooperative Bad Ischl . In addition to several extensions, the private Hans Kolm dairy in Seewalchen am Attersee was added in 1966 , and in 1972 the merger with the Lederau cooperative . After further expansions, numerous mergers were carried out again, especially in the 1990s (for example with the milk cooperatives Wartberg an der Krems , Vorchdorf , Vöcklamarkt , Dorf an der Pram , the Lengau cheese cooperative and the Pillichshammer private dairy ). After Austria joined the EU in 1995, the first exports began. In 1996 the Gmundner Milch brand was established. In the following years new takeovers (Almliesl-Zentralmolkerei) and accessions (Almtaler Molkerei Wührer, dairy cooperative Waidhofen an der Ybbs ) followed , in 2006 the merger with the dairy cooperative Freistadt .
