Godello

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Godello is a white wine from Spain and is considered an autochthonous variety of the Galicia region . There it is grown in the Monterrei , Ribeira Sacra , Ribeiro and Valdeorras appellations , but also in the DO Bierzo . In Valdeorras in particular, fresh and fruity white wines have recently been produced in a modern, internationally recognized style. Therefore, around 160 hectares were newly planted there in the 1990s .

Often cultivated as a single variety, the Godello produces a pale yellow to straw yellow, acidic and rather low-alcohol wine with a delicate bouquet of green apples and apricots. It is also offered as a blend with the grape varieties Albarino , Doña Blanca and Trajadura (also called Treixadura).
