'Trajadura' is a white wine variety that is mainly grown in Portugal .
distribution
It is recommended for cultivation in Portugal in the Douro and Minho regions . It is also approved in the Beira Litoral region . The area under vines in Portugal is around 1,169 hectares . In Galicia , in the Rías Baixas growing area, it is known under the name Treixadura. The worldwide cultivation area in 2010 is 2169 ha.
properties
The vigorous Trajadura gives only low yields per hectare and the berries are susceptible to raw rot . The late ripening variety produces fragrant, full-bodied and alcoholic wines . It is one of the permitted varieties in Vinho Verde . It is often blended with the Loureiro and Alvarinho varieties . In Spain, the liqueur wines Tosdadillos and Tostados del Rivero are made from it.
