The white grape variety Loureiro is an autochthonous grape variety from northern Portugal.
distribution
Cultivation is recommended in the Douro and Minho regions . It is approved in Ribatejo , Oeste and the Azores . The forested area in Portugal is around 2,384 hectares . In Spain the variety is known under the name Loureira and is grown there in Galicia on about 194 hectares. It is approved in the Rías Baixas , Ribeira Sacra and Ribeiro wine-growing regions .
properties
The vigorous, late-ripening variety produces aromatic wines . In the waste they will be happy with the varieties Alvarinho or Trajadura be removed and for example in the Vinho Verde used. There is also a red variety called Loureiro Tinto , which was most likely created by mutation from Loureiro. Loureiro Tinto is registered in Galicia.
