The Gogineni Subglacial Trench ( English Gogineni Subglacial Trench ) is a depression in East Antarctica that is completely covered by glacial ice . In Victoria Land , the rift runs under the Byrd Glacier between the Britannia Range and the Nicholson Peninsula . Its center is around 120 km southwest of the mouth of the Byrd Glacier on Barne Inlet into the Ross Ice Shelf .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2013 after Sivaprasad ("Prasad") Gogineni from the University of Kansas , who, under the auspices of the National Science Foundation and NASA, played a key role in the evaluation of remote sensing data on Antarctica .
