gold

As the name suggests, it is a gold-bearing body of water. Gold deposits in the area around Frankenberg (Eder) have been reported since the time of Charlemagne . There is concrete evidence that a gold washer was located in Wangershausen in the 18th century . The gold won had to be delivered to the mint in Kassel. The remains of the mining are still clearly visible in the forest today. Gold finds are still possible today with suitable equipment and specialist knowledge. The stream rises and flows through the Rhenish Slate Mountains , which explains its gold content.
