The Goldbrokat Crocus ( Crocus angustifolius ), even narrow-crocus or gold lacquer Crocus called, is a plant from the genus of crocus ( Crocus ).

features

The gold brocade crocus is a perennial tuber geophyte that reaches heights of 5 to 12 centimeters. The tuber casing is fibrous. The 3 to 6 leaves are 0.5 to 1.5 millimeters wide and gray-green. The perigone lobes are yellow, their outside is clearly bronze-colored, streaked, speckled or overflowed. They measure 17 to 34 × 6 to 13 millimeters and are withdrawn during flowering.

The flowering time is in March, it rarely begins in February.

Occurrence

The gold brocade crocus occurs in the Crimea, southern Ukraine and possibly also in the Caucasus. The species grows on open slopes, in Juniperus bushes and in loose tree corridors at altitudes of 300 to 1500 (rarely from 100) meters.

The gold brocade crocus is widely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and borders. The species has been in culture since around 1580.
