Beginnings

The Golden Award of Montreux was organized in connection with the international television festival Goldene Rose von Montreux . It was born out of the consideration that advertising is part of the television program and that the creators of outstanding advertising films deserve the same recognition. In addition, the categories print and radio received awards as early as 1989 in order to emphasize the multimediality of communication and its connection. Since 2001 works in digital / online have also been awarded. Since 2005 also the categories of event, spatial communication and corporate film.

The city of Montreux supports the festival together with the canton of Vaud . The Golden Award , the statue for the overall winner, consists of a stone from the lakeshore as a base and a golden silhouette that symbolizes both Lake Geneva and the mountains.

The sponsor is the Golden Award Committee , a non-profit registered Swiss association.
