Wunderman is a network of advertising, marketing and consulting companies with around 170 offices in 60 countries. Based in New York City , Wunderman is part of the Young & Rubicam Group and thus a member of the internationally active WPP Group .

history

The founder Lester Wunderman is considered to be the creator of modern direct marketing , which he shaped in a 1967 speech at MIT . He founded Wunderman, Ricotta & Kline in 1958. The agency's early innovations include the Columbia Record Club , the corporate toll-free number (developed for a Toyota campaign), and the magazine subscription card.

The long-term business relationship with American Express ultimately led to the first customer benefit program with which a breakthrough in customer loyalty could be achieved and which has since been copied many times by retailers and the tourism industry.

Wunderman, Ricotta & Kline was acquired by Young & Rubicam in 1973 . Since then, the agency has expanded its range of services to include interactive advertising, strategy consulting and data analysis.

In the late 1990s, the agency was briefly renamed Impiric before returning to the origins and changing the name back to Wunderman just 6 months later.

Wunderman has been present in Germany since 1971 and today has more than 200 employees in Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Düsseldorf & Berlin.

Wunderman is currently the world's largest marketing services network.

On November 26, 2018, WPP announced the merger of Wundermann with J.Walter Thompson to form the new Wunderman Thompson agency, which was realized in the following quarter.
