The Golden Gate Highlands National Park ( English Golden Gate Highlands National Park ) is located in South Africa , in the southeast of the Free State near the border with Lesotho , and is particularly characterized by its picturesque rocky landscapes. Orange or ocher colored sandstone cliffs loom over the mountainous grassland. There are also San rock art .

The northern entrance to the park is at the artist village of Clarens .
