Golden October
Golden October and Golden Autumn are established names for the most typical landscape in autumnal October or in the autumn .
The names refer to the color of the leaves of the deciduous forests that begin in the autumn months . If the sun is yellow-red, especially at sunrise or sunset, a golden hue can be seen. The word golden also expresses that such a sight is perceived as beautiful by many people.
The expression golden October has a centuries-long tradition in Germany . It has been shown to have been used several hundred years ago, although the exact date of its appearance is not certain.
The expression golden September is also used, but much less often. It is evidently a more recent analogy to the golden October .
poem
Eduard Mörike immortalized the golden autumn in his famous poem September morning in 1827 :
- The world still rests in the fog
- forest and meadows still dream;
- soon you will see when the veil falls
- the blue sky undisguised,
- autumn strong the subdued world
- flow in warm gold.
