The Gold Yellow daffodil ( Narcissus aureus ) is a plant from the family of the Amaryllis (Amaryllidaceae).

description

The golden yellow daffodil grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of up to 45 centimeters. Ten to twelve flowers of orange-yellow color are formed on a dold-like inflorescence. The color of the secondary crown is somewhat stronger than that of the main crown. In its overall appearance it is very similar to the tazette ( Narcissus tazetta ), which is why some authors also see it as a subspecies of this daffodil .

distribution

The golden yellow daffodil is widespread throughout the Mediterranean . In garden culture, this species is not kept very often. However, the narcissus connoisseur Walter Erhardt thinks it is possible that the variety Narcissus 'Grand Soleil d'Or' offered in stores is a selection of this type.
