Goldrain ( Italian Coldrano ) is a fraction of the market town of Latsch in Vinschgau in South Tyrol . The village lies on both sides of the Adige ; partly on an alluvial cone , partly in the valley floor of the Etschtal at 650  m slm . Goldrain has about 1000 inhabitants.

The name of the village is the Goldrain Castle , built by the Scheck von Goldrain noble family , originally just a residence . For a long time it was the residence of the Counts of Hendl . The oldest part can be dated back to the 12th century, in the 15th century major alterations took place, later the curtain wall was built around the castle. Today the castle is used as an educational center.

The Schanzen courthouse belonged to the bishops of Chur , who also appointed the judge. The meadow next to the building is still called Galgenwiese today.

The late Gothic Anna chapel and the steeple of the main church of St. Luzius are other buildings that characterize the town.

The village center has always been the "Platzl". At the bridge over the Adige are an old-established inn and various shops.

An annual highlight is the Landsprachmarkt on March 17th , once a cattle market and court day at the same time.
