Gon ( Japanese ゴ ン ) is a manga series by the draftsman Masashi Tanaka , in which a small, militant Tyrannosaurus rex plays the main role.

content

The stories take place in the animal kingdom in different regions of the world. The main character is the Tyrannosaurus rex Gon in the form of a rough, stubborn but good-hearted baby. As an orphan, Gon, the creature from prehistoric times, stands alone among the surrounding animals. He tries to imitate them - when it comes to loot, when building a shelter - and in doing so, due to its rough manner, usually unwittingly causes chaos. Nevertheless, he has a soft heart, stands by his adoptive siblings and competes against the toughest opponents. He prefers to have fun with other animals and romp around in nature. Later on, enormous violence and manipulation against adversaries play a bigger role. The comics manage almost entirely without language, only at the end of an episode are the animals that have appeared in the episode brought closer to the reader and given their Latin names.

In Japan, Gon appeared in individual chapters in the manga magazine Morning from 1992 to 2002 . The Kodansha publishing house also published these individual chapters in seven edited volumes. A colored new edition was published in the sister magazine Afternoon in issues 5/2012 (March 25, 2012) to 4/2013 (February 25, 2013).
