Gong (Zhou King)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gong , King of Zhou or Kung, King of Chu ( Chinese : 周 共 王; Pinyin : Zhōu Gòng Wáng ) was the sixth king of the Chinese Zhou dynasty . He ruled from 917 BC. Until 900 BC Chr.

Life

Along with Yih , Xiao and Yi, Yi is one of those kings whose period of government only very little is known. The Shiji Chronicle does not provide any information on this. From inscriptions on ritual bronzes it is evident that the rule of the Gong was the beginning of jurisdiction over land issues. At least the earliest known legal battle is dated to the time of King Gong, which is a sign of incipient land scarcity. Relative prosperity is assumed for this time.

Under Gong, the tendency for the eastern colonies to become states and alienated from the Zhou royal family solidified.
