Goniurosaurus catbaensis is a reptile fromthe Lidgeckos family . The species is on the island of Cat Ba in North Vietnam's endemic and described only in the year of 2008. The specific epithet is derived from the place where it was found. Goniurosaurus catbaensis is the fourth from Vietnam and the eleventh species of the genus Goniurosaurus described worldwide.

Goniurosaurus catbaensis differs from other species of the genus Goniurosaurus by a number of characteristics. It has a very slender torso and slender limbs as well as a thin neck band that is pulled back. Between the attachment points of the front and rear legs there are three to four thin, unspotted and narrow, dark-edged back bands. On the back there are several dorsal humps, each surrounded by 8 to 11 granular scales. The animals have deep axillary pockets and claw sheaths consisting of four scales. There are 16 to 21 pores in front of the cloaca .

The internasalia are absent, above the eye there is a series of greatly enlarged supraorbital cusps and the outer surface of the upper eyelid consists of granular scales with 6 to 9 enlarged cusps, these scales being the same size as the scales on the top of the head. The body scales are also grainy.
